Tunisia in 2003

I won't tell you anything about those three weeks. Otherwise you could start imagin things... I just blog it to avoid forgetting it someday :-P

Ecuador in 2002

After finishing school I immediatelly left Switzerland to make a great experience. The main goal of this trip was learning spanish and experiencing how life can be. I did not want to go to Australia because everybody went there. So I decided to go to South America. When I arrived in Quito I did hardly understand a word. I went to school for two weeks and decided that I needed a break. I took holidays and went to the famous Galapagos Islands. My father's present (for my birthday and for finishing school with a good result) was a one week diving tour. I enjoyed it, I have seen many new animals, thousands of sharks, manta rays, turtles, birds, ... The flora and the fauna of the islands are unique.

Bartholomé Island Posted by Hello
The day before I was suposed to leave I had an accident. I had to spend more than 10 hours in a hyperbaric chamber. And I was not allowed to leave the islands for another week. I could stay at the hospital and I helped at the Charles Darwin Research Station, which was very interesting and helped me understanding the things I once learned at school...
After two weeks I went back to school for another three weeks and took another two-weeks-break. The doctor I met on Galapagos was on the main land for holidays and he took me with him. We drove from the south to the north by car. We went from beach to beach and then back to salinas, where he spent his childhood.

After the last week at school I went to the jungle. WOW! A mate and me, we went to a lodge called Kapawi in the middle of nowhere. We had to take a plane which landed on a muddy runway. That was exciting!

In the Jungle, the mighty Jungle... Posted by Hello
I was arriving as a normal tourist. But soon I realised that I was in a confortable situation. Maybe I must explain several things about Kapawi: it is an american project. They built the lodge, train the natives to maintain it by themselves and to manage it without foreign help within 15 years. A native and a western (ecuatorian as well) form a guide team. The natives don't know english, so they need someone to translate. I had the chance that I knew spanish, so I could talk to the native. His name was Gilberto. While talking to him I learned many things about life in the jungle. I appreciated it very much. After one week I did not want to leave so I asked them if they had a job for me. And they had! That's how I became a spanish and english teacher in the jungle. I stayed there for another three weeks and learned a lot. Not only about the people there but also about life and about me!

Back to the civilisation I visited several market places and villages in the andes. I was very proud that I got to climb one of the high mountains. 5707 meters above sealevel! Unfortunately I forgot my camera at the hotel :-(

I returned to Switzerland as a new person. I was not the same anymore, I changed a lot in Ecuador. I love the country, it is beautiful and very divert. I still keep in touch with some Ecuatorian and with some mates from school. I hope to return there one day, a part of me is still there and will stay there forever...

Holidays from 1991 to 2001

I'm too tired to describe the ten years in details. But I've seen a lot during those years:

Spain in 1991: I've been to the olympic stadion!
Paris in 1992: My mother told me to pack some cllothes and the most important things into my bag. I wanted to know why and she told me: we are going to Paris and to the newly opened Euro Disney Resort. I did not beleive her untill we arrived in Paris...
Italy in 1993: We took the plane to Rome. After two days we drove to the south by bus and then the whole way back to Switzerland. It was great. I climbed the volcano next to Neaple and visited the island of Capri.
France in 1994: The first time without my brother! How happy I was about that. Only me and my mother. We went to Cannes in the south of France. We also went to Monaco, where i had to wait outside the Casino because I was too young :-S
Israel in 1995: Intresting journey, from Kibutz to Kibutz, swimming in the Dead Sea, Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea. I went diving for the first time.
Egypt in 1996 and 1997: Egypt is a beautiful country! I made my diving licence in Hurghada. The diference between land and sea impressed me very much. Sand at land, only beige and brown and in the sea you can find every colour. it was really impressive!
Tunisia in 1998: Three diferent kinds of desert. Salt, sand and rocks. Very impressive as well.
Fuerteventura in 1999: The only thing i did was diving :-)
Lloret de mar in 2000: I went there with some school mates. I think it does not need any further comments... ;-)
Zakynthos in 2001: First time with my boyfriend. The island is nice, did not see much more than the hotel and the beach...

Tirol in 1990

I hardly remember anything from our week in Austria. Only that I got a tirolian hat, which I still have somewhere in my sleeping room.

Mallorca in 1988

1988 was a very special year for me. In this year we went abroad for the first time. I started school in April. I liked it, it was very easy for me. During summer holidays, my mother, my brother and me went to Palma de Mallorca. The first time I climbed an airplane. The first time at the beach. The first time not understanding people. It was great. I can't remember many things because it is long time ago, but one thing i perfectly remember: I was allergic to salt water. Imagine that situation: You are at the beach for the first time in your life and you are not allowed to go into the water. I had to stay at the swimming pool! That was hard...

The year was also special because I went to my first scout camp in october. The camp was weird, we ate something wrong, so we spent almost the whole week in bed. None of us will ever forget that week ;-)

My Holidays

I decided to use my Blog to remember my holidays. Although I spent many holidays in Switzerland, I will only write about my trips to foreign countries.

I start in 1988, my first year at school...

I am a Blogger

Yes, I am member of the blogger-community now. I did not know anything about blogs four weeks ago. But now I try to maintain my own blog. We will see what is going to result. I'm not quite sure weather anybody is going to read it one day or not. But this is my blog, and I do it for me and not for anybody else...
Enjoy it if you like, make comments (but not as Anonymous please!), do whatever you want to.
